Weekly Sports Report December 12

The basketball teams have been doing so well!! Girls Varsity beat Mt Hebron and Northeast High School. They beat Northeast 74-17 Girls JV also beat both teams!! Boys Varsity came back to beat Mt Hebron 70-65, but fell to Arundel. Boys JV beat Arundel 55-53. Our wrestling team beat Hammond last week!! Good luck in your matches today!

PARCC Assessments Next Week

Senior students who have not met their college and career readiness requirement according to the State of Maryland will be required to reassess by taking Algebra 11 and/or ELA PARCC assessment. the assessment will be December 13, 14, 15 for Algebra and December 19, 20, 21 for ELA. There are also several other students in grades 10-11 who are required to test for various reasons. Parents have been notified and all students will receive a pass with the appropriate dates, time and location. Participation is mandatory and students are encouraged to be here on times on and to do their very best!

This week students are participating in Hour of Code. Our goal is that students can be engaged in activities which allow them to explore coding and see the career opportunities in a variety of fields from digital arts to electronics to game design.

Dear LRHS, I hope you each had a wonderful Thanksgiving break! We have had a lot to celebrate this week at LRHS. We learned that 9 of our current students auditioned for and were accepted into the Maryland All-State Band, Chorus and Orchestra.

HC DrugFree’s Teen Advisory Council is open to all Howard County high school students and community service hours are available. The next two meetings will be on Monday, December 12 and Monday, January 9 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at The Barn (Teen Center) in the Oakland Mills Village Center. Free pizza provided. Teens need to complete the 2016-17 online registration form and RSVP to admin@hcdrugfree.org.
