Junior Interview Day, November 15

Junior Interview Day is a Howard County graduation requirement, and it assists our students in preparing for their post secondary plans. Interviews will take place on Thursday, November 15, 2018. Each Junior will participate in a short interview and interviewers will share constructive comments with the student pertaining to their interviewing strengths and weaknesses. Students are required to dress professionally for the interview and details of what is appropriate will be shared. Please contact Student Services at 410-313-7412 if you have questions.

Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) Awareness and Screening

In Howard County, the number of cases of both chlamydia and gonorrhea have nearly doubled in teens ages 15 and up in recent years. One in every two sexually-active young people will contract a sexually transmitted infection (STI) before age 25, and many are not even aware they are infected or of the significant risks to their health.

OutReach Begins October 30!

Long Reach is proud to announce our academic support program called OutReach.Each program is designed to provide students with an opportunity to enrich and enhance the subjects they need support in. Currently, OutReach is offering support to students who are enrolled in English 9, English 10, Earth and Space Science. Session 1 of OutReach begins next week on Tuesday, October 30. Music Booster's Fundraiser at Modern Market, 10/17/2018

Enjoy delicious food at Modern Market restaurant and support the students in the Long Reach High School music programs. 50% of the proceeds will be donated to the Long Reach High School Music Boosters to fund the band, choir and orchestra activities. Youth in Conversation

Youth in Conversation is a group of high school students who want to “talk about the things no one talks about”. Our goal is to build community by having conversations about identities we have in common and issues that separate us, such as race, culture, religion and gender. We believe if we take the time to listen and learn from each other, we can find ways to be a more thriving and innovative community because of our diversity.

Innocence Stolen

Howard County Education Association and the Howard County Public School System will present “Innocence Stolen: Protecting our Children Online,” about the range of threats students and adults face when they go online, on Wednesday, October 10, 6-8 p.m. in the Jim Rouse Theatre for the Performing Arts, 5460 Trumpeter Road in Columbia.
