Sophomore Class: It's fundraising time! Please support the Little Caesar Pizza and Cookie Dough fundraiser. Order forms were given to each interested student and online ordering is also available. Use ID#361775 for online orders and remember to include your child's name. The sale is from January 3rd through January 20th. All orders are prepaid and available for pick-up on January 30th-----just in time for the Super Bowl!!! The Science National Honor Society is hosting the annual LR STEM Career Day on February 4th. The sign up is live! Please sign up and attend sessions. With midterms quickly approaching we are providing our 9th grade students with an opportunity to get extra help with study skills and midterm preparation. Midterm Motivation will allow 9th grade students the opportunity to get help in the following courses: English 9, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Earth Science, Biology, Spanish, French, Chinese, Lifetime Fitness, Health, and US History. These sessions will take place on Tuesday and/or Thursday January 8th, 10th, 15th, and 17th from 2:20-3:30. Bus transportation will be provided for students who participate. Students who participated in the grade 8 Maryland Integrated Science Assessment (MISA) last school year are receiving home reports starting on 12/17/18. MISA is Maryland’s new Next Generation Science Standards(NGSS) aligned assessment. MISA replaced the MSA Science test in all Maryland schools and was phased in beginning in 2017. Results are being reported late due to the process of setting performance levels. Students participate in the MISA in grades 5, 8 and 11. On December 3rd from 6-9 pm, River Hill will be hosting the Science in Society Conference. The Science in Society Conference is an annual event held at River Hill High School whose purpose is to expose students with varying interests and levels to the many facets of STEM education and the various opportunities within STEM fields. This conference has contributed to many students receiving research into a variety of fields, such as engineering, medicine, cybersecurity, business, and more.
