Long Reach Honor Society Applications

National Honor Society

NHS Applications are due September 23rd.  
Initial eligibility is a 3.40 cumulative weighted GPA or higher for all juniors and seniors. The application process also has the student demonstrate leadership, service, character, and school/community involvement.

Expectations are:

  • regular attendance at meetings (last Wednesday of every month)
  • participation in philanthropy fundraiser/donation items (Grassroots)
  • service completion (5 hours in school/5 hours out of school per semester)
  • one hour of tutoring
  • maintenance of GPA and character

Math National Honor Society

Applications are due no later than September 23rd

The requirements are: 

Eligibility Requirements:
·       Completed courses through Algebra 2 and currently enrolled in Pre-Calculus or higher
·       Unweighted GPA at or above a 3.25 overall
·       Grade of B or better in each high school math course
 
Expectations:
·       Inductees must complete 6 service hours per semester (at least 3 of which are math related)
·       Regularly attend meetings
·       Maintain code of conduct
·       Take at least 1 AP math course and exam in high school

Science National Honor Society

Applications are due September 30th

Expectations:
- must be a junior.
- must have a 3.4 overall weighted GPA and 3.5 weighted GPA in science courses.
- must have at least one honors/GT level courses by junior year and two by the time they graduate.
- must complete 8 hours of service hours per semester (4 must be in science related activities).

We meet every other Friday.
Participation in school wide science events.
