Cyber Security Workshop for High School Students

Do you have a child in high school who might be interested in computer security? APL is hosting a 2-week, hands-on cybersecurity workshop for high school students (grades 9-11) to provide students with an introduction to cybersecurity. No programming experience is required. The summer program will run July 15-26, 2019, in APL Cafeteria 1, 4-6 p.m., Monday-Friday. The course fee is $15 to cover computer lab costs and course materials. Registration is available via the course website:https://hscybersecurity.org. All application materials are due by April 15.
The course material focuses on:
  • Cybersecurity ethics
  • Linux
  • Networking
  • Penetration testing (e.g., network traffic analysis, reconnaissance, exploitation, post-exploitation)
  • Network defense (e.g., intrusion detection, system hardening)
  • Continuing educational opportunities in cybersecurity
