Update Your Child’s Emergency Contact Information on HCPSS Connect
Congratulations to Jordyn Battle and the social studies department as she will be representing us as a Maryland Student Page in Annapolis in the New Year.
Each week Long Reach High school is implementing a "Lightning Time" period on Wednesdays, 9:00am to 9:30am, between periods 2 and 3. We are excited to give students space in their schedule to work with their teachers on a rotating schedule (week1 will be P1, week 2 will be P2 etc), and to have the opportunity to work with other staff for academic purposes (if they schedule this beforehand). Lightning time gives students choice in how they approach their academic responsibilities and we hope that students are empowered by the opportunity. See below for more information.
The OutREACH after school academic tutoring program will begin October 11, 2016. The program which is staffed by teachers and peer to peer tutors, will be held Tuesdays & Thursdays after school from 2:15-3:35 PM. Tutoring is available in core subjects and SAT prep. Snacks and busing will be provided. Please complete and return page 2 of the registration form to register your child (attached). Please e-mail email@example.com with any questions.
On October 18 we had our second senior meeting during 2nd period. We covered cap and gown information and orders, senior dues, and College information. Below is a breakdown. If your senior was not able to attend please have them come by my room (A141) to pick up information. I am also including information from Brooke Schneider, the yearbook teacher, about senior portraits ( #6,7, and 8).
Beginning on September 28, 2016, we are offering an activity bus for students. This bus will provide more opportunities for students to stay after school for clubs, and activities showing their Lightning Pride! We are thankful to the Bright Minds Foundation through their Driving Student Success Program for their generous grant that makes this possible.
FAFSA Application Opens: Saturday, October 1 All seniors considering attending college or a career school in the fall of 2017 should begin filling out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on October 1. Learn more about the FAFSA and applying for financial aid.
