Absences
To excuse absences to Google Meets (for entire day or certain periods), parents/guardians may send an e-mail to lrhsabsence@hcpss.org within 5 days of a student’s return. The e-mail must include the first and last name of the student, date of the absence and reason for the absence. You will receive an e-mail once absence is entered.
Tardy to Google Meets
Students who are late 20 minutes or more to a Google Meet will be marked as absent for that period.
Pre-Arranged Extended Absences
The Howard County Public School System grants students a maximum of three (3) excused absences (discretionary days) per school year when the absence is pre-arranged with the principal and teachers.
Reasons for such absences include: college visits or family commitments that cannot be scheduled on a non-school day. These days may not occur during exam periods.
If a student knows in advance that they will miss school, the student must complete an Extended or Discretionary Absence Form and submit it to lrhsabsence@hcpss.org. The principal will review the form and the decision will be communicated to the parent/guardian.
Monitor your Student’s Attendance
You may check at anytime to see if your child is attending their Google Meets. Log into HCPSS Connect, click on Attendance on left side of screen. You will be able to see if your child was absent or tardy to any Google Meet classes.

Ausencias
Para tener una ausencia justificada/con excusa de Google Meets por el día entero o ciertos periodos, los padres/guardianes tienen que mandar un correo electrónico a lrhsabsence@hcpss.org entre 5 días que el estudiante regrese. Cuando la ausencia está entrada por la escuela, usted recibirá un correo electrónico.
En el correo electrónico tiene que incluir: Primer nombre y apellido del estudiante
Fecha de la ausencia y razón de la ausencia
Llegando Tarde a Google Meets
Los estudiantes que llegan 20 minutos o más tarde a Google Meet van a estar ausente para esta clase/ periodo.
Repasa la Asistencia de su Estudiante/Hijo/a
Usted puede revisar si su hijo/a asiste a sus Google Meets/clases. Se puede ver si estaba ausente o tarde su hijo/a a cualquiera clase de Google Meet.
Métese a HCPSS Connect, haga clic en Attendance en la parte izquierda de la pantalla.
Las Ausencias Preestablecidas Prolongadas
El Sistema de Howard Condado Pública le da permiso a los estudiantes por un máximo de 3 ausencias con excusa por año escolar cuando la ausencia está prolongada por un director o maestros. Las razones para las ausencias incluyen: visitas a las universidades o compromiso de familia que no pueden estar en el día de no escuela. Esos días no pueden ser durante la temporada de los examenes finales o midterms.
Si un estudiante sabe en advance que van a perder escuela, el estudiante necesita llenar un Extended or Discretionary Absence Form y mandarle a lrhsabsence@hcpss.org. El director va repasar la forma y comunicar la decisión al padre/guardián.
