Winter Message from the Health Room

Fri, 01/26/2018 - 1:21pm

As you all know, it is flu season, and many people are being affected by it.  Here, at Long Reach, we are doing our best to keep our kids healthy and safe.  If your child is sick, please keep your child at home to recover.  Per HCPSS policy, students cannot come to school with a temperature of 100.0 or higher, with or without symptoms.  If the fever is 99.0 or high WITH symptoms, it is strongly recommended that the child stay home and recheck the child's temperature.  The child needs to be fever-free, without fever reducing medication, for at least 24 hours before returning to school.  If your child is vomiting, please keep your child at home until they are symptom free for at least 24 hours before returning to school.  We want to reinforce good, proper hand-washing, and to clean surfaces with appropriate cleaning agents.  The health and safety of our children, as well as our families, staff members, and the community, is a priority.  We want to prevent the spread of communicable diseases.  Remember, healthy children learn better.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Health Room at 410-313-7416.  Be well!
